FAQ

Group lessons

How are the skiers allocated to groups?

Most of our guests are "repeat offenders", which allows us to allocate them to groups directly and without preliminary procedures. With the lesson ticket each guest is granted assess to our mySports online portal and it is there that your progress is stored at the end of each lesson.

For those who attend a ski lesson for the first time, grouping occurs after oral discussions and estimation of skills, age and language. If the assigned group should not seem to be appropriate, you can of lesson change the group any time.

If I do not enjoy a lesson, may I change lesson? For example: from a snowboard to a ski lesson?

This should not be a problem, provided that we have a lesson suitable for you on offer. Please inform our office staff and you will be registered for another lesson.

Can I join a lesson during the week?

In general grouping is done on Sunday and Monday. However, it is also possible for advanced skiers to join an existing group during the week!

Yes, lessons are timed, so that adult lessons start 15 minutes later than children's lessons (children can arrive accompanied as from 9.30 am and the adult lesson begins at 9.45 am) and the children are always supervised until collected again by their parents!

Can our children attend the same group?

Grouping of children is mainly based on the skiing skills and the age of children. If your children or your friend's children are at the same skill level, please inform the technical manager during the grouping phase on the first day, and we will try our best to put them into the same group.
If the children are not at the same skill level, the child who skis better would have to join a lower skill group to meet the requirements of the weaker child.

Do I have to book the complete (5) 6 lesson days or can I book less days?

Our programme for group lessons builds up throughout a week with ski race and a special programme during the weekend. It therefore makes sense to participate in the lesson for the entire (5) 6 days. It is however also possible to participate fewer days!

Is pre-booking required for group lessons?

Normally there is plenty of space in the group lessons. However, we recommend that you book or reserve in good time online, by telephone or by e-mail.

Do the lesson days have to be booked on consecutive days?

The lesson days should be consecutive, because the other participants continue with the programme and learn something new every day. This could result in having to change the group. The best thing is to speak to your instructor.

From what age should children attend a ski lesson?

From three years. We offer half-day lessons for three-year olds (Burmiclub). For all other children we offer a whole-day lessons. For snowboard lessons, however, we recommend a minimum age of 8 years. On special request, however, it is also possible for younger children to attend a snowboard lesson.

Are half-day lessons offered too?

We offer half-day lessons as part of the Burmiclub (lesson for 3-year-olds), cross-country skiing and private lessons. All other (group) lessons are 4 hours (2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon).

We used to offer half-day lessons, but our experience has shown that the learning success achieved is disproportionate to a full-day lesson.

Private lessons

How early should I book a private ski instructor?

The earlier, the better! The lessons can be booked or reserved by telephone, by e-mail or directly in the online shop.

Is it possible to have lessons with a particular instructor?

Basically, this is possible. However, we request you to make your request for a certain instructor as early as possible by telephone or by e-mail. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that we can fulfil your wish!

Lunchtime supervision

Is it possible to book child-care over the lunch hour for individual days?

Yes, but please book lunch care one day ahead in the office of the respective ski school, but at the latest on the same day before lesson start!

Languages of instruction

Do any of your instructors speak Dutch?

All our instructors speak some Dutch. Please let us know about your instructor preferences on allocation and we will do our best to satisfy them.

Ski bus

Is the Walserbus free of charge?

Yes, if you show your guest card (Allgäu-Walser-Card).

Ski pass

Is the ski pass included in the ski lesson?

Lift tickets and ski passes have to be purchased separately at the cable cars. Prices are available at the following link: https://www.ok-bergbahnen.com/tickets-winter/

Do beginners need a ski pass too?

Yes. Everyone needs a ski pass to use the cable cars. Recommended for beginners: Before the lesson, talk to your instructor about which ticket is the best for you for the rest of the week.

Prices & Payment

Is the price different if I book 3 lesson days, but later on decide to book more days?

Yes. For example, if you book 3 days in the first instance and later book a few days more, the extension card tariff applies; see current price list.

Is the lesson fee refunded, if the children do not like it?

In general, money is only refunded upon presentation of a doctor's certificate (illness, injury). We have however several offers (extension day...) in order to reduce the "risk" as much as possible! Should there be a problem anyway, we can recalculate or book another lesson instead!

How can I pay the lesson fee?

On site you can pay cash or by card (not Amex). You can pay online with Maestro, Visa or Mastercard.

We hope we have answered your questions. If you need further information, please contact us. We look forward to welcoming you in Hirschegg.
